"Elegant Lies"

Hi. I won't be posting a holiday related post for now because I wanted to share to you guys my thoughts about a movie I've watched this afternoon..and I know I have to talk about it.

Depression and Bullying. It's difficult to wrap your hands around both issues but let's be real. It does exist! And in the movie a middle school girl took her life because of both issues. I mean how cruel is that??  Both are super sensitive issues. And it's weird how someone gets to be treated like that.

Bullying.
She gets bullied at school. The kind where nobody talks to her. For short they pretend that she doesn't exist. She doesn't have friends! And at that age that's what you needed! But no, I've seen bullying in real life and it freaking sucks! I remember being in high school and I have this classmate that always gets bullied. And I seriously felt sorry for him and I know I needed to do something but I was too afraid. I'm also new at that time and I don't want to draw attention. So instead of doing something I just kept quiet. Eventually, at the movie someone pretended to be her friend. Just so she can ask gifts from the girl like being in exchange of their so called friendship. And she’ll invite her to her birthday party 1 hour late so all the foods are gone and talk about her behind her back. It made me cry so hard. I felt so bad for the girl. Nobody deserves to be treated like that. Nobody.

Depression.

Depression is something not so new to all of us. But the problem is who are the ones that are depressed?? In the movie little did the girl’s sister and mom knows that the girl is having depression because of bullying. They just found out after she died when her sister tried to find the reason why she committed suicide. Her sister discovered that the girl borrow books from the library about depression. And the saddest part? They did not know. And they had no idea she was suffering. The girl tried to conceal everything to her family. Maybe because she doesn’t want them to know. That’s the thing about people, not just because they smile that already means that they’re happy. No, as long as they can hide it they will. Because they don’t want to be judged.

I think the best thing we should do is to reach out to everyone that is important to us. Because we don’t know what battles they’re fighting inside. They may seem happy and smiling but it’ just an excuse to hide their problems. They may have dropped some clues for us to help them out. It might not be directly said but they might have. Maybe they we’re trying to reach out to you but you didn’t give much importance about what he/she said. We don’t know what will happen not until it’s too late.

Lesson learned: IMPORTANCE TO LOVE ONES. SHOW THEM HOW MUCH YOU LOVE THEM AS LONG AS THEY’RE BY YOUR SIDE SO WHEN THE TIME COMES YOU’LL HAVE NO REGRETS. AND DON’T EVER DEGRADE A PERSON. NEVER. BECAUSE WE ARE ALL FAIR IN THIS WORLD NOBODY’S TOO HIGH OR TOO LOW.  AND IF YOU’RE BEING BULLIED OR DEPRSS MAKE SURE TO TELL YOUR FAMILY OR SOMEONE WHO COULD HELP YOU. DON’T EVER TRY TO KEEP IT TO YOURSELF. IT’S A HARD BATTLE, YOU JUST DON’T FIGHT IT ALONE. THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO’S WILLING TO FIGHT WITH YOU.

Spread appreciation and love. Always.

Love, Isha
